📑 The latest findings are now published in the Church Investment Report!
💼 Investment assets: The 75 institutions that took part in the study have cumulative investment assets of around CHF 5.5 billion, of which CHF 3.35 billion are invested in securities. Two thirds hold securities with an average equity allocation of 27%, which indicates a defensive investment strategy.
🌍 Sustainability: Of the institutions surveyed that invest in securities, 86% take sustainability criteria such as ESG standards into account. This is significantly higher than among conventional institutional investors (only 37% of Swiss pension funds invest sustainably). Church institutions therefore definitely play a pioneering role in terms of sustainability.
📈 Performance: Despite a focus on sustainability and a defensive investment strategy, the organisations achieved an average return of -8.21 % in the crisis year 2022, while conventional pension funds recorded a return of -8.8 %.
